I love running around the yard.

This push toy is pretty fun, too, although I like the one Papa uses better. It's bright red and makes a lot of noise!

The tricycle is my favorite, though. I haven't quite gotten the hang of the pedaling part, so Mama and Papa push me around the yard in it. I love going over the bridge and waving to the ducks!

We don't go to Vicksburg without seeing our friends the Lasseter/Mitchells. They took us to the dinner at St. George's, actually. And after the dinner, their son David and I got to run around the church yard.

When we got back to their house, we had fun playing with all of David's toys. I was especially fond of this race car.

I always love a good trip to the Burg!

THE ANNUAL LEBANESE DINNER AT ST. GEORGE'S CHURCH IN VICKSBURG

When we got back from our Texas adventure, Mama and I drove to Vicksburg to see some friends and eat supper at St. George's Orthodox Church.

Every year St. George's hosts a traditional Lebanese supper for the people of Vicksburg. Mama is friends with Mary Louise Nosser, one of the women at the church who helps put on the event. She brought us a tray of cookies!

But before we could eat the cookies, we had to eat supper. There was kibbe and tabouli and cabbage rolls and green beans and--my favorite--pita bread!

I tried it all, though!

On our last day in Texas, Mama's friend Delicia and her family paid us a visit. This is Delicia's son, Wynn. We had a lot of fun together.

Mama, Mimi and I all traveled to Galveston, so Mama could go to the first annual Foodways Texas symposium. While she did that, Mimi and I had lots of adventures. My favorite one was when we went to a Mardi Gras parade along the seawall. People threw sparkle-y necklaces at us!

I'm going to take all of these necklaces home with me to Mississippi!

Mama had to travel to Texas for work, so we got to spend a few days in Houston with some of her friends and, of course, Mimi.

We had breakfast at Claire's restaurant, Canopy, and it was so yummy! I especially loved the toast.

It was so good to see Claire again. The last time I saw her was way back in September!

When Mama and I were out exploring last weekend, we heard a rustling in the leaves. We went to investigate and found this thing. Mama says it's an armadillo. She's thinks it's ugly, but I think it's kind of cute. He sure picked out a good place to live!

We finally had some sunny weather last weekend, so Mama and I spent some time outside.

I'm a confident walker now, so I love being outside. Especially when Mama lets me just wear my socks. Shoes always seem to get in the way.

Really, though, I just like playing with rocks. Our driveway has a lot of rocks. I could stay busy here forever!

Carl Goes to Daycare is my new favorite book. Mama reads it to me every night. It's about a dog named Carl who goes to school with his friend Madeline and ends up saving the day--after they have lots and lots of fun making music and doing crafts with the other kids, of course. It's a really great book.

I hope Jackson can go to Miss Karen's with me one day!

It was a gift from Mimi and came from Mama's favorite store in Houston, Surroundings. I love it because it's bright red, just my size, and Mama and Papa let me sit in it to eat meals at the coffee table, which is waaaaay better than sitting in the highchair! I like standing in it, too, but Mama and Papa don't like that so much.

We spent an afternoon at the Cockrell Butterfly Center, where we got to see LOTS of butterflies.

And then we got to see a collection of insects in drawers. They were pretty neat, but some were scary.

Mimi came to visit me again, and we had a great time, as always. We went treasure hunting at lots of antique malls, and we ate a lot of good food. One afternoon, we crossed the county line to eat at Turquaz Café, a Turkish restaurant in Panola County.

It was a beautiful day, and we had a lot of fun playing while we waited for our food. Here I am with Mimi and the doll that Mama bought for me at Paris Antiques earlier in the day.

Turquaz is next to a putt-putt golf course, so Mimi and I went over to check out one of the holes. I liked the rocks.

LUNCH @ DREW FAST FOOD

On our drive home from the Delta, we stopped at Drew Fast Food in Drew, MS, for lunch. Well, actually, we were there to pick up my birthday pies from Mama's friend Mr. Sculark, but we had lunch while we were there.

We had fun, too. It was a beautiful day in the Delta.

Mama shared her catfish dinner.

I liked the cornbread muffin best.

And then Mr. Sculark brought out my birthday pies--five of them! And they're sweet potato! Mama got them for the party we're having at our house this weekend. She says they're her absolute favorite. I sure did like Mr. Sculark, so I bet I'll like his pies, too.

BIRTHDAY SLUMBER PARTY @ TALLAHATCHIE FLATS

Tallahatchie Flats is a cool place just outside of Greenwood, MS, where you can rent these shacks and spend the night between the Tallahatchie River and a cotton field.

For those of you who were at Mama and Papa's wedding, this place is just next to Little Zion M. B. Church, where they were married.

We stayed in the red shack.

Mama took lots of pictures.

BIRTHDAY RAMBLE THROUGH MISSISSIPPI

Mama and Papa took me on a ramble through Mississippi for my birthday.

We had lunch at Lep's BBQ in Pontotoc.

Then we went shopping for pumpkins at the farm stand across the street.

Mama and Papa are silly!

We ended up in Greenwood, where Mama had to meet up with some people for an SFA event. She made sure to stop by Crystal Grill to get me a slice of chocolate meringue birthday pie. She said she'd been waiting all day for me to taste one of her favorite treats. Unfortunately, I didn't really like it. I think it was the meringue.

I sure do like LeAnne, though! I am so glad that I got to see her on my birthday!

I made some new friends, too. This is Fred and Jill Sauceman, some friends of Mama's from Tennessee. They're really nice.

Mama had to work, so Papa and I set up camp at Tallahatchie Flats in Greenwood. More about that next.

My birthday isn't until tomorrow, but since I won't be at Karen's tomorrow, they threw a little party for me there today. It was so much fun! Karen gave everyone a balloon. Mine was red.

All of my friends were there, too: Jackson, Lucy, Alice, Norah and Ethan.

MY FIRST RODEO!

On our way back from Memphis, we spotted a hand-painted sign for a rodeo. Turns out it was a Mexican rodeo! We watched men on horseback catch claves by their tails and jockeys race down a dirt track. Even though Mama's from Texas, she said that she's never seen anything like it. I hope we go back. I sure did like the horses.

HANGING OUT AT SAIGON LE

We made a trip to Memphis and stopped at Saigon Le, our favorite Vietnamese joint in town, for lunch.

It was hard for me to decide what I wanted.

We ordered a lot. Mama and Papa were nice about sharing. I loved the oranges that came at the end of the meal.

I also loved getting to play with the kids who were there. The littlest girl is my age. Her name is Denise. She's walking already!

Memphis is so much fun.

Actually, I started climbing stairs in Houston at Mimi's house was back in September, but I mastered my technique here at home. I climb the stairs a few times a day, at least. And I always like playing with the CD player at the top. I can't quite figure out which button makes the music happen, though.

Last Sunday we spent the afternoon by the creek. I love peeling the bark off of trees--and eating it.

Jackson wasn't really in the mood to play, but I played with him anyway.

Papa and I worked hard on projects. Papa dug a fire pit while I tried to figure out how to stand on this tree stump.

Most of all, I loved playing in the sand.

FUN AT THE OXFORD TOWN FAIR!

Our bank celebrates 100 years of doing business on the Oxford Square this year, and they invited the whole town to the party they threw today to mark the occasion. There were games and bands and food and old cars. Papa let me get behind the wheel of this old Farmall tractor.

There were also handmade quilts and toys and jams and jellies. Oh, and I had my first taste of cotton candy!

It was such a beautiful day, and I had such a good time with my family.

We stopped by Amelia, Mama's favorite store on the Square, to visit our friend Erin. She's a lot of fun. We laughed and played a lot.

We also wanted to check in on Mama's paintings that are hanging there for a while. Papa made sure I had a good view of them. They're so awesome!

And we even ran into my friend Karen. I get to play with Karen at her house a few days a week. It was such a surprise to run into her on a Saturday!

It was a lot of fun. But, for some reason, we didn't have any cupcakes, even though I saw that Erin had some on the counter. Maybe next time.

I played on a swing for the very first time just a few days ago, and today I got a swing of my very own! Mimi sent it to me for my birthday, and the weather has been so nice that Mama and Papa let me have this present a little early. Such fun!
